DOVER, DE, August 3, 2017 – The Energize Delaware Revolving Loan Program has provided a loan in the amount of $176,247 for energy conservation upgrades to the Police Athletic League of Wilmington (PAL) for its facility at 3707 Market Street. The resulting upgrades are expected to save $200,000 in energy costs over its 13-year term.

PAL is interested in pursuing sustainable and energy conservation upgrades to their facilities to help them reduce their annual energy budget, achieve a lower carbon footprint, and obtain needed facility improvements and capital upgrades. The Energy Service Company (ESCO) Seiberlich Trane Energy Services performed an investment grade energy audit which revealed deficiencies in the lighting systems, inefficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and opportunity for a controls upgrade.

Experts from Seiberlich Trane developed a custom package of energy conservation that include:

  • Boiler replacement to 500MBtu condensing boiler with 97.7% efficiency
  • Whole building lighting retrofit with combination of White Optics reflector technology, LED upgrades, and retrofit kits
  • Upgrade existing Tracer Summit controls system to Tracer ES system

To help fund this project, two grant programs sponsored through Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (an Energy Assessment Grant and a grant from the Energy Efficiency Investment Fund) were utilized, resulting in a cumulative rebate of $25,608.
