In recognition of the 4th annual national Energy Efficiency Day (EE Day) on Wednesday, October 2, Energize Delaware is joining regional and national organizations, utilities, businesses, universities, and individuals in promoting energy efficiency – the cheapest, quickest way to meet our energy needs, cut utility bills, and reduce pollution.

Energy efficiency is also an economic engine, with a U.S. workforce of more than 2.3 million. Ranging from professional services to manufacturing and construction, these good jobs are local and cannot be outsourced.

“The Energy Efficiency Day 2019 goals of saving money, cutting carbon emissions, creating jobs and improving air quality are a reflection of what Energize Delaware tries to accomplish everyday with our assortment of efficiency programs. We work hard to help Delawareans save money with clean and sustainable energy solutions,” said Tony DePrima, Executive Director of Energize Delaware.

Smarter energy use means we don’t have to generate as much power to meet our needs. Many people don’t realize that Energize Delaware already provides significant, forward-thinking programs in energy savings that benefit home-owners and renters, businesses, non-profits, state agencies, schools, farms, local governments, and houses of worship.

Reducing the energy used by manufacturers, homes, and businesses benefits everyone – especially energy bill-payers. The average household saves almost $500 yearly thanks to efficiency standards that apply to new appliances such as dishwashers, refrigerators and water heaters.

Mr. DePrima also states, “In honor of Energy Efficiency Day on October 2, I ask that everyone think of – and carry out – at least one new way they can contribute to making Delaware more energy efficient today, and in the future.”
