Health
and Safety Guidance
Whenever an assessment uncovers health
and safety issues, it is the responsibility of the
energy auditor to provide guidance and make
recommendations to the customer. The energy auditor
will inform both the customer and the program if
health and safety conditions will have an effect on
or prevent the customer from receiving rebates in the
program.

Best Practices
Working Group Nominations
The program will be sending out an
email with information about nominations and
elections for the next best practices working group
(BPWG). The BPWG is a technical group that meets
quarterly to discuss best practices in the program,
issues arising in the field, how program changes may
impact contractors, program recommendations, etc. We
want to hear from you. This is an opportunity to
represent the Energize Delaware program as a
contractor in the industry on both the auditing side
and the installation side. If you are interested in
being a part of the next BPWG, look for our email.
For more information contact our technical lead Jerry
Spaulding at gspaulding@franklinenergy.com.
HVAC Orientation Can
Affect Efficiency Rating and Rebate Amount
The program has encountered instances
in which the downflow/upflow or horizontal
orientation of the HVAC equipment installed has
affected the AHRI-reported AFUE rating. This may
result in two different AHRI documents for the same equipment
contingent on whether the installation was installed upright or on the side. This will affect
what rebates a project may qualify for, and it is
important to properly document and report these
instances to prevent customer dissatisfaction.
Please keep this in mind when
submitting the AHRI documents for rebate approval,
and make sure to verify that the specific orientation
of the installation is included on the sheet being
reported to the program.
Marketing &
Outreach Update
The DESEU will soon enter into an
agreement with DEC to cross-market the Home
Performance program. This is an exciting new
opportunity to work with a tremendous new partner to
deliver a whole-house energy efficiency solution to
DEC customers. Look for DEC-sponsored media appeals in
the coming weeks.
