The Energize Delaware Farm Program (EDFP) provides agriculture producers with technical and financial assistance and energy assessment services designed to reduce energy costs, leading to a more viable agricultural sector.
The goals of the EDFP are to provide a holistic approach to identifying energy savings opportunities and providing financial incentives for energy-saving equipment and renewable energy technologies for Delaware agriculture producers. We are committed to promoting affordable, reliable, clean energy and energy efficiency initiatives to ensure a stronger agriculture sector for Delaware. Assistance is available to all subsectors, including but not limited to poultry/egg, dairies, orchards, controlled environmental agriculture, vegetables, vineyards, grain dryers, irrigation pumping plants and diesel to diesel or diesel to electric tractor replacement.
Services provided include enrollment and implementation assistance; no-cost comprehensive energy assessments, technical assistance reports, and preliminary renewable energy assessment development; assistance accessing complementary funding sources [for example, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)]; on-site inspection of the installed projects to ensure the equipment is working as intended; and approval of eligible incentives.
Financial incentives of 50% of the project cost up to a cap of $100,000, loans up to $2,000,000 with low fixed rates (3-4%), and new construction projects are incentivized based on 50% of the incremental cost of the project, are examples of the types of incentives offered through the EDFP.
Energize Delaware has selected EnSave, Inc., an energy efficiency consulting firm dedicated to providing energy efficiency programs and energy audits, to administer the program. Many producers on the Delmarva Peninsula are familiar with EnSave’s work, as the firm has completed hundreds of audits in Delaware since 2009.
