ABOUT US

Doing Our Part to Save Money, Energy and the Environment

What Energize Delaware is All About

We’re all about helping you, your family, your commercial business, your farm, or your nonprofit organization save money and reduce energy consumption by becoming more energy efficient.

We offer a comprehensive array of programs, including — energy audits that identify where homes or buildings are losing energy; rebates on recommended upgrades such as new heating or cooling systems, hot-water heaters and more; low interest loans or grants for large renewable energy systems like solar and geothermal; programs for low-income households; and a list of quality contractors you can trust to perform the work.

All of these programs are funded by the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, bond issuances, and program income. Our programs generate energy and cost savings statewide totaling more than $650 million to date. Taking charge of our energy future, together. That’s what we do. That’s what we do.

You may know us as the Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility (DESEU)

We operate under the name Energize Delaware and they’re one and the same. We’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization offering programs and resources to help residents and businesses save money through clean energy and efficiency. Many of our sustainable energy solutions are available at little or no cost.

The DESEU was created in 2007 by the state of Delaware to foster a sustainable energy future. We were the first in the U.S. to launch a model like this, and today, it’s inspiring communities around the world. In 2019, we rebranded as Energize Delaware to bring all programs under one recognizable, trusted name — one that reflects the energy, innovation, and forward momentum behind everything we do.

Energize Delaware helps residents and businesses across the state improve energy efficiency, lower energy costs, and support a healthier environment. From upgrading outdated equipment to securing financing for energy improvements or taking a whole-building approach, we offer tailored programs to meet your specific needs.

Beyond saving money and creating jobs, our programs also empower commercial, industrial, and other nonresidential sectors—including municipalities, universities, schools, and hospitals—to play an active role in building a more sustainable energy future for Delaware.

We’re proud to call Delaware home, as it’s a state that embraces the dual benefits of energy efficiency and clean, renewable sources like solar and wind. These investments help reduce carbon emissions, manage long-term energy costs, and protect our natural resources for future generations.
