EV Facts

  • Battery Electric Vehicles (EVs) – EVs run entirely on electricity, powered by a high-performance battery and require no gasoline.
  • Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) – PHEVs combine a traditional engine with an electric motor that you can recharge. While the electric range is shorter than an EV’s, they automatically switch to the gas engine once the battery is depleted, offering flexibility.
  • Range – The range refers to how far an EV can go on electric power alone. With an average range of 276 miles for 2023 models, many exceeding 300 miles, most Americans can drive multiple days without needing a recharge.
  • Charging – Charging an EV is simple—just plug it into a wall outlet or EV charger. At home, a 10 kW charger can fully charge an EV in about 10 hours. Public DC fast chargers can reach 80% charge in just 30 minutes.
  • Consider Your Driving Needs
Most EVs have a higher range in city driving, thanks to regenerative braking. Consider your daily driving habits to choose the EV that best fits your lifestyle.
