Each Comprehensive Energy Assessment will include the following information:
All comprehensive assessments comply with American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) Standard 612 and meet the criteria for a NRCS Conservation Evaluation and Monitoring Activity (CEMA) 228 report, allowing the assessment to be used to access EQIP funding in addition to the Energize Delaware funds.
The Technical Assistance Report is designed to assist farmers who have identified a specific piece of equipment they would like to install and need confirmation that energy savings will result.
These reports can be utilized to obtain financial incentives through the EDFP, or USDA Rural Development REAP grants.
Producers with a comprehensive energy assessment or technical report older than two years are eligible for a new technical assistance report.
While the report allows the project to move forward faster, the report does not comply with ASABE Standard 612. It also does not meet the criteria for a CEMA 228 report and cannot receive EQIP funding.
The report includes the following information:
Renewable energy assessments are offered, primarily in conjunction with energy assessments, although some stand-alone assessments may be performed if the producer has already exhausted energy efficiency opportunities on the farm. The renewable energy assessment shall include:
Producers with ground-mount systems will be encouraged to install agrivoltaics systems. This will allow for continued land use, provide the system’s benefits to the farm, and not take valuable farmland out of production. Assistance would include analyzing a producer’s site and operation to determine renewable energy suitability, designing site-specific renewable systems, and evaluating the appropriateness and reasonableness of vendor quotes.
Yes! The program can help direct farmers to apply for external funding such as NRCS’ EQIP and Rural Development’s REAP. EQIP and REAP funds can supplement the Energize Delaware Farm Program incentives so that you have additional funds to pay for your project.
Once all documents and energy use data are received from the farmer, the energy assessment will begin and be delivered within eight weeks
Yes, an energy assessment completed in the last three years and compliant with the ASABE Standard 612 Type II On-Farm Energy Audit is eligible for the program.
Yes, fuel-switching projects (beneficial electrification) are eligible but must result in a net decrease in energy use and/or greenhouse gas emissions
The equipment you were approved to install must match the quote you provided. If the scope of your project(s) changes, please contact EDFP immediately before installing to discuss project eligibility. Projects that differ from the quote and approval letter may have the final incentive adjusted and risk being determined ineligible.
You will receive an incentive payment after you have received written approval from EDFP, your project has been installed and verified through a site inspection, and all invoices have been provided. Payments are processed within 60 days of receiving all verification documentation.
The Energize Delaware Farm Program considers a farm to be a distinct entity if it has a separate nutrient management plan; separate utility accounts; or if it has a unique tax identification number, employer identification number, or social security number associated with it.
