NEWS & INFO.

The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) has been a hot topic lately, but many of us don’t understand how it works or what it means. Did you know this is partially how Energize Delaware (otherwise known as the Sustainable Energy Utility) is funded??

RGGI is a cooperative market-based effort to cap and reduce CO2 emissions from the power sector. The RGGI states (there’s 10) sell allowances and invest the funds from these sales into energy efficiency improvements, clean energy, and programs to benefits their communities.

How do these funds help you? They allow Energize Delaware to offer programs at little to no cost like Home Energy Checkup and Counseling (no cost and you get energy-saving products installed), Home Performance with ENERGY STAR (typically $50 for comprehensive home assessment and report, energy-saving products installed, AND rebates on upgrades you do), and so much more.
